ClamWake · ClamWake Remote

Privacy Policy

Pletec LLC develops ClamWake for Mac and ClamWake Remote for iPhone, iPad, and Apple silicon Mac. This policy explains how these apps and the ClamWake website handle information.

Information used by the apps

ClamWake reads Mac status to provide sleep prevention, safeguards, and Remote features. This includes the computer name and device identifier, sleep and lid state, battery and charging status, temperatures, CPU and memory use, network activity, available storage, display state, app version, and enabled settings. Availability varies by device and permissions.

When you use Remote, status and connection information—including local IP addresses and a port used to reach the Mac—is stored in your Apple Account’s private CloudKit database to let your own devices find and communicate with your Mac. Commands, notification events, and Pro purchase verification information also use this private database. No separate ClamWake account is created. Pletec LLC does not receive your Apple Account password.

Screenshots and screen control

Screenshots are taken only when requested through the app and when capture is enabled on the Mac with Screen Recording permission. The image may contain anything visible on the captured display, including personal or confidential information. A paired direct connection can deliver the image immediately; the latest screenshot for each Mac is also saved to your private iCloud database. A later iCloud image does not replace a newer image already received directly.

Live screen video and the clicks, keystrokes, and text you send during screen control travel over an encrypted connection between the paired devices. Pletec LLC does not operate a video relay or store recordings of these sessions. Live video and control input are not routed through iCloud. The separate screenshot feature does save still images to iCloud.

Use the Mac settings to disable screenshots or screen control, end a session, or remove a paired device. You can revoke Screen Recording, Accessibility, and Local Network permissions in system settings. Each feature stops being available when its required permission is removed.

Local settings and AI Agent Mode

Settings and the last fetched Mac status are stored on your devices; Remote shares a local status cache with its widget. Pairing identifiers and secret keys are stored in the device Keychain. Pairing keys are not synced through iCloud Keychain.

AI Agent Mode checks local process activity and network counters, and can use Claude Code hooks, to decide when to keep the Mac awake. Agent names and detected working states may be included in the status synced to your private iCloud database. This feature does not send your prompts, source code, or conversations to Pletec LLC or to an AI service.

Purchases and notifications

Apple processes App Store purchases and subscriptions. The apps use Apple-signed purchase and renewal information, including product and transaction identifiers, purchase or expiry dates, and revocation status, to verify Pro access. This information is stored locally and in your private iCloud database so your own Mac can verify access. Pletec LLC does not receive your payment-card details through the apps.

CloudKit and Apple push notifications deliver status changes and alerts to your devices. Notifications can include the Mac name and event details. You control notification permission and lock-screen previews in system settings.

External services, website, and diagnostics

The apps use Apple services for iCloud, purchases, and notifications. They request minimum-supported-version information from GitHub, and the Mac app uses Sparkle to check for and download updates hosted on GitHub. These requests expose normal connection information, such as your IP address, to the service receiving the request; update checks may also include app and system version information.

The public website is hosted on Cloudflare. The product pages request release availability from GitHub, and downloads are delivered by GitHub. Hosting and delivery providers may process IP addresses, request times, requested URLs, browser information, and security logs to serve and protect the service. The website stores your language preference locally in your browser; you can remove it by clearing site data. The privacy-policy pages do not request GitHub release information.

We do not include advertising SDKs or third-party behavioral analytics in the apps or website, and do not use your information for advertising, cross-app tracking, or sale. Device operating systems and store services may separately provide diagnostics according to your Apple settings. If you choose to contact us or send diagnostic material, we receive the information you include and use it to respond and investigate the issue. Please avoid sending passwords, pairing keys, or unnecessary screen content.

Retention, deletion, and your choices

The apps retain settings and cached status while needed for their functions. The iCloud screenshot record keeps the latest image per Mac until replaced or deleted. Delete the image in Remote to remove that screenshot from iCloud; images you exported or shared must be deleted separately. The Mac can retain the last-capture timestamp for up to 24 hours after it learns of a deletion.

Remote lets you remove a Mac’s status record from its list. Quit or disable ClamWake on that Mac first if you do not want it to publish a new status record. Processed remote commands are removed where possible, and commands older than ten minutes and events older than one day are cleaned up when the relevant apps run; this is not a guarantee of deletion at an exact time.

You can remove paired devices on the Mac to revoke access, and disable iCloud access for the apps in your Apple Account settings. You can manage or delete app data in the iCloud storage settings where Apple makes that option available. Deleting an app alone does not necessarily delete iCloud records or Keychain items. Apple controls the retention of its service records and backups.

Pletec LLC cannot directly access or erase the contents of your private CloudKit database. For questions about deletion steps, or to request access, correction, or deletion of information you sent us directly, use the contact below. We retain correspondence only as needed to answer the inquiry, resolve related issues, and meet applicable legal obligations.

Service providers and changes
